Modern Table Number DIY

Until my oldest started pre-school, I really never did anything for St. Patrick’s day, other than wearing green so I didn’t get pinched. So when my round-faced 4-year old brought home a leprechaun trap, certain that he would catch a little green man with pockets stuffed with gold, I started asking around to find out what in the world I was supposed to do.  So, I sit here today recalling plans that my youngest 5 year old has been telling me over the weekend, to catch her very own leprechaun. In just a few hours, I’ll be causing trouble in my own – clean – house (because I hear leprechaun’s are messy troublemakers) just to see the smile on my little one’s face when she gets home from school today.

In the meantime, I’m sharing an easy table number DIY for all of your spring parties.  The above photo is by Alexis June Weddings for a very cool, neon photo shoot I did with her and Attention 2 Detail that will be published in the wedding blog world very soon!  It’s so easy, fun, and a great way to bring in color and/or pattern to your table.

Most of the materials you probably already have on hand.
1. Cardstock
2. Pencil
3. Scissors
4. Clear tape
5. Print outs of your table numbers.  Some fun fonts to try are Hallandale Deco, Telemark, Princetown LET, Libby and 20 DB.

Once you have your materials together, there are 3 steps:

One thing to remember is to trace your numbers lightly.  I traced this one dark so it would show up well for pictures.  When I did them for the shoot, I traced very lightly.

The only other trick is to not cut along that bottom line of your number.  That is where you’ll fold it so that it stands up!  I cut a straight line right from the top, which I tape on the backside with clear tape afterward.  If you do it right, it isn’t noticeable at all – you can see where I’ve taped it in the center and the line is pretty much invisible.  Once you’ve got your cut line taped, simply erase all of the remaining pencil marks, and you’re done!

That’s it!  Easy as a leprechaun’s mess!
